Artifact Inspiration: Bird Zun of Marquis Jin

The Bird Zun of Marquis Jin is celebrated as one of the most treasured artifacts in the Shanxi Museum, China. It was excavated in 2000 from Tomb No. 114 of the Marquis of Jin, whose occupant was Xiefu, the first Marquis of Jin who changed the state name from Tang to Jin.

During the Western Zhou period, birds and elephants were popular decorative motifs, particularly favored by the people of Jin. The Bird Zun combines exquisite artistic design with refined practical functionality, making it a rare and exceptional masterpiece in Chinese bronze art.
